By Ned Holstein, MD, MS, Founder and Chairman of the Board, National Parents Organization
As National Parents Organization announces the resignation of its National Executive Director Rita Fuerst Adams, I would like to extend my gratitude to her for the many ways in which she helped advance our organizational mission. During Fuerst Adams’ time as National Executive Director, she has played a critical role in our efforts to improve the lives of children by protecting their right to the love and care of both parents and advocating for shared parenting and parental equality in our family courts.
Having joined our cause as National Executive Director in 2012, Rita has been a champion of children’s rights and parental equality in all that she has done for our cause. Whether managing the administrative demands and functions necessary to the job or growing our strong volunteer and membership base, she has been integral to our success during her tenure.
In her three years of service, Rita has led National Parents Organization through multiple, significant projects, including a national rebranding effort; expanding the number of state affiliates; the execution of major campaigns that have included the creation of the recently released inaugural Shared Parenting Report Card, which caught the attention of media across the nation; and our introducing Shared Parenting in Temporary Custody Orders.
“Rita’s contributions will have an impact on our cause for many years to come, and we are thankful to her for her commitment to strengthening our voice across the nation,” said Don Hubin, who is a member of the organization’s Board of Directors.
Rita Fuerst Adams said, “Thank you to all the volunteers who have been working so hard to start our affiliates. You are the driving force that will make National Parents Organization successful. Also, I am deeply grateful for key leadership who have worked side-by-side with me to build National Parents Organization brand, affiliates, research, and lobbying: Dan Enthoven, Don Hubin, Kevin Hughes, Paul Mickens, Bruce Rogers, Steven Sweely and Burton Taylor.”
Fuerst Adams’ last day with National Parents Organization is January 9, 2015. As Fuerst Adams’ time with the organization comes to a close, please join me in celebrating her achievements and wishing her well in the future.
