Missouri Governor Jay Nixon Signs Shared Parenting Bill

July 1, 2016 by Robert Franklin, Esq, Member, National Board of Directors, National Parents Organization

Great news! The Missouri affiliate of the National Parents Organization has informed us that Missouri Governor Jay Nixon signed into law HB 1550, the shared parenting bill backed by NPO and other state organizations. The bill passed overwhelmingly in both houses of the legislature. The Senate passed it unanimously and there were only two “no” votes in the House.

This is a win for Missouri’s children, and a win for fathers and mothers alike. It’s a win for good sense in family courts and a defeat for the family law bar that takes parental conflict straight to the bank.

The victory in the Show Me State adds to NPO’s victory last year in Utah. That bill too added substantially to the parenting time fathers will see post-divorce.

Well done Linda Reutzel and all the NPO gang in Missouri!

The tide is turning toward equality in family courts and the true best interests of children.
