Florida Alimony Reform/Shared Parenting Bill Advances; Contact Senators to Urge Passage

Senate Bill 1248 passed the Senate Appropriations Committee by a 12 – 6 margin and has gone to the Senate for an up-or-down vote. NPO’s Robert Franklin blogged about the bill here. The bill would reform both alimony law and parenting time for divorced parents. The alimony portion would limit both the amount and duration of alimony awards. The parenting time portion establishes a presumption of “approximately equal time-sharing” by both parents.
