November 20th is the International Day of the Child and, to celebrate it and to draw attention to Canada’s radical anti-child family courts, the Canadian Equal Parenting Council will be holding informational meetings and a fundraiser. The CEPC is the largest organization in Canada dedicated to the principles that children need two parents in their lives and family law must be changed in order to ensure that children don’t lose their fathers after divorce or separation.
Here’s the information about CEPC’s events on November 20th. If you can attend and/or contribute, it’ll be in the best of causes.
If you or someone you know is going through divorce or separation, you should be aware that in Canada mom gets sole physical custody in ninety percent of cases, and if dad wants to be with his children more than the typical “Status Quo” of every other weekend (if he’s lucky) then he is in for the fight of his life because our existing System has a vested interest in maintaining said “Status Quo”.
The Canadian Equal Parenting Council (CEPC) is currently working with our government to rectify the clear bias in our Family Law System by reforming the Divorce Act to reflect equality with the presumption of equal parenting unless clear evidence-based due process demands otherwise, as proposed in previous sessions of parliament with equal parenting motions, equal parenting bills and even Ottawa’s special joint committee on child custody and access which puts forth several dozen recommendations for change in our Divorce Act that would indeed be in the best interest of the child in a special report, titled ‘For the Sake of the Children’ 13 years ago.
CEPC is a national federation of 40 organizations of parents, grandparents, second wives, mothers and fathers, professionals and academics, and concerned Canadians, with a total of more than 10,000 members. We need your help to implement the Conservative Party’s own policy declaration in section K, under the title Social Policy #69; ‘The Conservative Party believes that in the event of a marital breakdown, the Divorce Act should grant joint custody, unless it is clearly demonstrated not to be in the best interests of the child. Both parents and all grandparents should be allowed to maintain a meaningful relationship with their children and grandchildren, unless it is demonstrated not to be in the best interest of the child.’
