Los Angeles, CA–Over the weekend my wife and I had the pleasure of attending incoming California State Senator Rod Wright’s (pictured) swearing-in Inglewood. While serving in the Assembly from 1996 to 2002, Rod was a pioneer of child support and family law reform in California and the nation.
One of the interesting people we met at the ceremony was Dr. Perry Crouch, a gang intervention specialist in South-Central Los Angeles. Dr. Crouch has negotiated peace treaties between warring gangs. What a tough job–I told him maybe he should be Obama’s new Secretary of State.
Predictably, I asked Dr. Crouch, “How many of the gang members you deal with live with their fathers?”
Dr. Crouch thought about it for quite a while, turned to me and said, “About 1/2 of one percent.”
